Planetary Systems: Formation, Planetary Systems: Evolution, Planetary Systems: Detection

Scientific paper

Emphasis was placed on a review of observational and theoretical progress in our understanding of the intimate relationship between the formation of stars and planets. Special attention was given both to observational and theoretical studies of multiple systems and to the important role that interferometry is expected to play in the search for and study of extrasolar planetary systems in the near future. The following are the subjects of the invited papers: star formation, disks associated with young (pre-main-sequence) stars, disks associated with main-sequence stars, binary and multiple systems, theory of disk evolution and dissipation, theory of binary and multiple systems, results from astrometric searches, results from radial velocity searches, prospects for imaging interferometry, and prospects for astrometric interferometry.
