A monochromatic CCD (charge coupled device) camera has been attached to
the Cassegrain focus of a 356 mm reflector. After enhancement the video
signal is recorded on a VHS tape. The entire visible lunar surface can
thus be mapped at kilometre resolution in a matter of minutes.
