Dense Matter, Stars: Neutron

Scientific paper

We have studied the consequences of phase transitions in the stellar interior on the surface gravitational redshift of a compact star (neutron or quark star) for the limiting equation of state allowed by the causality constraint. The dependence of the global parameters of a compact star on the assumed parameters of the phase transition were determined. The resulting redshifts are always less than in the case of a one-phase star built of such matter.
