Stars: Binaries - Eclipsing - Period Change

Scientific paper

All available times of minima of TU Her were collected and analysed. The result shows that its period was decreasing rapidly between 1910 and 1977 at a rate of Δp/p≅-1.29(-8) ≅-10.41 s/yr. There were three possible abrupt period changes during this interval. We discuss the cause of the change in the period and suggest that it may be related to mass loss.
