Spectroscopic observations of high spectral and spatial resolution of the [O III] 5007 and Hα lines from CH Cyg are presented. The data reveal a very compact emission nebulosity located about 1arcsec northwest of the star. Several arguments favour the identification of this nebulosity with a component of the radio jet ejected from the star in 1984. The observations suggest an expansion velocity of the jet of the order of 800 km s-1, a high collimation of the flow and an inclination axis of the jet nearly perpendicular to the line of sight. The jet probably originates from an accretion disk seen nearly edge-on around a compact companion of the M6 giant in an eclipsing binary system of highly eccentric orbit.
