A detailed analysis of the radiative data for bound-bound transitions in several spectroscopic series of Mg(0) is presented. f-values are reported for the following transitions: 3s2 1S - 3snp 1P0; 3s3p 1P0 - 3sns 1S, 3snd 1D; 3s3p 3P0 - 3sns 3S, 3snd 3D, 3p2 3P; 3s4s 3S - 3snp 3P0. Comparisons with other results are made in terms of transition wavelengths, f-values, lifetime estimates, and oscillator strength distributions along spectroscopic series. Then, photoionization cross sections of the 3s2 1S ground state of the 3s3p 3P0 and 1P0 excited states are reported. The calculated cross sections are fitted with matrix expressions derived from the quantum defect theory. In the region just above threshold these fits reduce to simple formulas. A further comparison with theory and experiment based on the positions of Cooper minima and resonances is also made.
