The optical positions of four late-type oxygen-rich stars, RX Boo, R Aql, RR Aql, and NML Cyg, which contain maser emission in their circumstellar shells, have been determined to 0.05-arcsec accuracy on the FK 4 system as represented by the AGK3RN catalog (Corbin, 1979). Comparison of the optical position of the stars with those of the OH and H2O masers leads to discrepancies of as large as 0.2 arcsec between the theoretical position of the star and the maser region, which are probably caused by the lack of agreement of the optical and radio reference frames. Since the size of the maser region is proportional to the mass-loss rate of the star, radio and optical positions of maser stars with low mass-loss rates may be used to relate the present FK 4 optical reference frame with the radio reference frame at the 0.1-arcsec level.
