It is now well established that young brown dwarfs harbor accretion disks similar to their stellar counterparts. These disks provide an excellent environment to investigate grain and planetesimal growth in an extreme case, and thus constrain the efficiency and universality of planet formation. In fact, in a Spitzer survey of 35 brown dwarfs and very low mass stars, we find that dust settling and grain growth are ubiquitous by the age of 5 Myr, arguing for planet forming processes in circum-sub-stellar disks. Meanwhile, recent discoveries of binaries like 2MASSW J1207334-393254 suggest that ultra low mass companions to brown dwarfs could also be the direct result of binary star formation processes. Thus, there appear to be two pathways for the formation of planetary mass companions around brown dwarfs.
