The current star formation rates (SFR) for a sample of 7000 star-forming galaxies from the Data Release 4 (DR4) of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) are derived from the galaxy far infrared luminosities (the IRAS data), from the monochromatic luminosities in the radiocontinuum at 1.4 GHz (the NVSS data) and from the H-alpha luminosities. The Salpeter shape of the initial mass function (IMF) and low-mass cut-off of 0.1 Msun in IMF are supposed for SFR (FIR) determination. The SFR (1.4GHz) are derived assuming that the fraction of the thermal component in the galaxy radiocontinuum emission is about 10%. The upper limits for ages of star-forming bursts are estimated for galaxies with known heavy element abundances.
