This dissertation presents a study of the role of rotation, chromospheric activity and age in the Li depletion phenomenon in late type stars. Specifically we have focused in the connection between the inhibition of Li depletion processes and binarity. We have observed and analyzed several samples of stars, such as single and binary stars belonging to the Hyades open cluster, chromospherically active binary stars (CABS), and visual and spectroscopic binaries which have large orbital periods. We have performed a grid of simulations using the solar data to verify that the effect of surface inhomogeneities is reduced in the determination of Li abundances in spotted stars, similar to the uncertainties in the Li abundances determinations.
