The present volume of abstracts of conference papers discusses topics associated with the role of meteorite impacts on the evolution of the Earth and other solar system planets. Attention is given to the Bosumtwi Crater in Ghana, impact-induced hydrothermal base metal mineralization, the Manicouagan impact structure, ecosystem study analyses of Earth astroblemes, the Chicxulub impact structure and its proximal ejecta, geochemical evidence for a single-impact melting event at Sudbury, and evidence for an initial Bushveld catastrophe. Also discussed are diagnostic criteria for recognition of shatter cones, large-scale impact cratering and early Earth evolution, reconstruction of the Vredefort impact crater, the Steen River impact structure in Alberta, cratering on Titan, diamonds originated by meteorite impact, geophysical signatures of large impact structures, Chesapeake Bay as the largest submarine peak-ring impact crater, postimpact impactite phase, the Mare Serenitatis as the oldest and largest impact basin sampled in the solar system, assessing impact trajectory in the geologic record, and the characterization of terrestrial impact structures via Radarsat.
