Spectroscopic data on the intermediate polar FO Aqr show a 'rotational disturbance' of the emission line profiles at orbital minimum, indicating an eclipse of an accretion disk. Some evidence for the eclipse is seen photometrically, but not in the X-ray band. It is suggested that the eclipse is only of the near side of the disk, with the primary remaining uneclipsed. This indicates an inclination in the range 65-75 deg, much greater than previously believed. The implications of the findings for the system geometry and component masses are discussed.
