It is shown that the abundances, distributions, and correlations among minor element contents of olivines in Y-82042 (C2) chondrite are compatible with an origin for the crystals as solid crystalline condensates from a vapor. The first olivines to condense from that vapor were rich in Ca and Al, contained about 0.25 wt pct FeO and apparently cocondensed with a Ca-Al-rich liquid; this liquid is represented by Ca-Al-rich glass inclusions in the Ca-rich olivines.
