Ten strong lines in the IUE spectrum of RR Tel have been identified as transitions from a common upper level of Fe II, y4H011/2. The level is selectively populated through resonant photoexcitation from a4F9/2 by one of the resonance lines of C IV, λ1548.2 Å. Five of these lines appear also in the spectrum of V1016 Cyg.
