Venus Atmosphere: Temperatures

Scientific paper

The results of the study of the atmosphere at 42 polar and circumpolar regions of Venus using the method of radio occultation by means of the orbiters Venera-15 and Venera-16 are presented. The discovered latitudinal dependences of the height of the tropopause, the depths of the temperature inversion, the temperatures of the level of 1 bar, and the temperatures of the tropopause are compared to the results obtained with the help of the orbiter Pioneer-Venus. The authors note the stability of the structure of the polar atmosphere over a 5-year period. The contrasts in atmospheric temperature in the polar and circumpolar regions are discussed, as well as the contrasts in atmospheric temperature between the north and south hemispheres. A weak distinction between the temperature conditions in the north and south polar regions was discovered.
