Variations in the directions of the axes of the earth's ellipsoid of inertia due to tidal deformations caused by the moon and sun are calculated. Calculations are also made of variations in the directions of the axes of the earth's ellipsoid of inertia due to deformations caused by variations in the directions of the earth's rotation vector (i.e., polar motion).
