The Center for Astrophysics redshift survey is being extended by Shectman et al. (1983) to the south galactic cap. Their initial results provide independent estimates of both emission Ve velocities and the absorption line Vc velocities, such that = 54±13 km s-1. H I line observations of 40 of the sample are presented to provide a secure velocity scale calibration. The Vc velocities are found to have a 32±9 km s-1 zero-point error.
