BV observations of RV Gru obtained in the years 1975, 1976 and 1978 at the European Southern Observatory are reported. Times of minima are derived. Furthermore, the deviations of the observations from the mean light curves of the years 1975, 1976 and 1978 are given. They form the basic data of the brightness variations of this close binary which are interpreted in a separate paper.
