For the W UMa variable VW Cep a specific model is developed which is
based both on the starspot hypothesis and on the hypothesis of the
existence of precessional motions of the rotational axes of the
components. It is shown that this combination allows to explain the long
period variation of the light curve, the so-called Kwee-effect.
