We propose to obtain high-quality BV and Caby photometric data for a complete sample of red-giant branch (RGB) and horizontal branch stars in M22, a Galactic globular cluster with broad RGB, which is reminiscent of ω Centauri. Our photometry will reveal whether M22 has several distinct populations, in the light of our recent discovery of discrete RGBs in ω Cen, and will also allow us to search for correlations between RGB color and metallicity. The photometry for the 18 (at least) M22 RR Lyrae variables will allow comparisons of the magnitude-metallicity relation with our already- obtained data for ω Cen. Comparisons between [Ca/H] for RGB stars and the RR Lyraes will allow us to check whether [Ca/Fe] really does vary in M22, or confirm a suggestion that [Ca/H] measurements on the RGB are contaminated by CNO.
