Characteristic times for the temperature equalizations of the liquid and solid phases of matter in the cores of neutron stars are investigated, and it is shown that magnetic transitions always take place more slowly than thermal ones. The thermal evolution of a neutron star in the initial stage of its existence is examined. It is found that right after the formation of a neutron star with a solid core, the core temperature is a nonmonotonic function of the radial coordinate. The mechanism of the melting of the solid core is considered along with the possibility of mass ejection from the pulsar during starquakes caused by the accumulation of radial stresses. The mass ejection can be related not only to stellar core dynamics but also to low-energy gamma bursts.
