The results of UBV measurements of the brightness of the variable Z CMa made between 1975 and 1990, and its hydrogen spectrum in 1983 are described. A similarity is established between the star's photometric history and its spectral variations over a period of about 60 years, on the one hand, and the nature of the afterburst evolution of eruptive young FU Ori-type stars (fuors), on the other. This conclusion is in agreement with the idea of Hartman et al. (1989), namely, that Z CMa belongs to this group. The behavior of Z CMa is presented in graphs and tables.
