During our search for new gamma Dor stars in hipparcos photometry
(Handler 1999), we examined about 600 `unsolved variables' as classified
by the hipparcos team (ESA 1997). We initially selected stars of
spectral types A-G, amplitudes <0.2 mag, H_p< 8.5 mag at minimum
and luminosity classes II to V.
