New near-infrared spectroscopy of a sample of 23 ultraluminous galaxies
is presented. Line emission from hydrogen (Paβ) and ionized iron
([Fe II] λ1.257 microns) is detected in most systems. Analysis of
the line and near- and far-IR continuum emissions shows them to be
consistent with current starburst models.
