A theoretical model is presented of the negative polarization of light scattered by surfaces with complex structures. The model takes into account the interference of doubly scattered rays which interact with the same scatterers. Theoretical relations are shown between polarimetric parameters (Pmin, alphainv, alphamin, and h), on the one hand, and albedo, volume density, particle size, and a coefficient characterizing polarizing properties, on the other. Good agreement is found between calculated and experimental data.
