The characteristics of the Space Telescope (ST) and the five accompanying scientific instruments are reviewed with an emphasis upon the study of jets in galaxies. The capabilities of the wide field and planetary camera, faint object camera, faint object and high resolution spectrographs and the high speed photometer are reviewed. The ST will be an ideal instrument for studying jets because of the ultraviolet capability and stability of the photometric response of all instruments on extremely small angular scales.
