Design parameters which relate to the sensitivity and resolution (both spatial and spectral) of Bragg reflection concentrators for hard X-ray astronomy are discussed. The Bragg concentrator offers a practical method of source (continuum) and cyclotron line emission detection. It is shown that for broad continuum detection in 1 deg Bragg angle increments over roughly equivalent energy ranges, graphite, the most sensitive crystal, is more sensitive than lithium fluoride only by about a factor of two. Lithium fluoride has the advantages of being much more inexpensive and has a smaller mosaic spread than graphite, thus making possible coarse (0.05 resolution) surface brightness distribution studies.
