A total of 12 spectra of the supernova in NGC 4414 are analyzed. Relative intensity tracings of the spectra near maximum light are presented, and some of the stronger individual lines are identified. The most prominent absorption features are found to be the Si II line at 4130 A, the Mg II line at 4481 A, and the three strongest members of the Fe II multiplet; all of these are typical of type I supernovae spectra near maximum light. Other spectral features are noted which indicate the presence of a secondary thin shell or filament. A photometric light curve is plotted and shown to have a shape typical of type I supernovae.
