Properties of radio galaxies are examined for inferences on the influence of the intergalactic medium (IGM) in contact with such galaxies. Evidence pertinent to radio galaxies in clusters is given preference. The morphology of extended radio sources is reviewed, and particular attention is given to data on head-tail radio sources, and to 'normal' double radio galaxies. Cases of 'relaxed' double radio galaxies are also considered.
