Scientific paper

Information and research findings on planetary nebulae (PN) are summarized. The article covers the morphology of PN, contrasts types of PN nuclei, and illustrates the galactic distribution of the objects. Distance scales are evaluated and a model is constructed, based on optical spectral data. The chemical composition and radio-frequency spectra of PN are examined, along with the IR spectra. Evidence bearing on the evolution of PN, the nature of stars generating PN, and explosions and ejection of shells associated with PN, are examined.
