A method for solution of currents on linear antennas is outlined, whereby the need to apply boundary conditions to an integral operator is eliminated by the use of an intermediate differential equation. The disadvantages of the cumbersome Pocklington's and Hallen's integral equations requiring the use of boundary conditions are discussed. In the method proposed, two equations are needed for determining the unknown current for a given incident field. An illustrative graph is presented for current distribution on a fullwave dipole antenna. Advantages of the method from the standpoint of numerical analysis are pointed out. The technique should prove useful for analysis of wire-antenna systems.
