The analytical yield spectrum approach is here used in conjunction with the coupled continuity equations for the steady-state condition to study the chemistry of ions corresponding to less than or equal to 40 AMU within the Comet Halley ionopause; the calculation encompasses 600 reactions, including C, H, N, O and S compound chemistries. Attention is given to the ionization of these compounds due to solar wing EUV-photons, photoelectrons, and auroral electrons, with a view to resulting ion densities. Results are compared with data from the Giotto High Intensity Spectrometer.
