Ion spectra obtained by the Vega 2 spacecraft's Plasmag-1 instrument are here used to investigate the plasma parameters in the regions both up- and downstream of the Comet Halley bow shock. A comparison of proton velocities with the simulated bulk velocity profile generated via 3D multiscale MHD model indicates that simulated and measured values are in fair agreement, at cometocentric distances greater than about 500,000 km.
