Evidence of ion cyclotron wave activity is sought in magnetic field data obtained by the Ulysses Jupiter flyby, giving attention to the near-equatorial current sheet within the middle magnetosphere. Power spectral peaks are indeed related to ion cyclotron frequencies in the heavy-ion gyrofrequencies regime. Generally, the power in the transverse components of the polarized waves observed are an order of magnitude higher than those in the compressional waves.
