The results presently obtained via kinematic model calculations of the change of helicity for magnetic reconnection confirm the approximate conservation of magnetic helicity for reconnection is such nearly-ideal plasmas as the solar corona. While different examples illustrate the contributions of flux tube twist or linkage to the total helicity change in the process, they also indicate that helicity may be generated for reconnection in more extended nonideal regions.
