MRC B1221-423 is a nearby (z=0.17) compact radio source, lying within the envelope of a galaxy which is undergoing a tidal interaction with a companion. Previous observations show that there have been several episodes of star formation, connected with the tidal interactions. A high-resolution ATCA 12 mm radio image shows that the radio jet is ploughing into dense material, being turned almost back on itself and depositing large amounts of kinetic energy into the galactic ISM. We propose to use CABB at 7 mm to investigate the details of the interaction between the radio jet and the surrounding gas in this dynamic, interacting system.
