An analysis is made of the IR spectrum re-radiated by a dust cloud absorbing primary UV radiation. General features of the spectral distribution are recognized, and an analytical relation is derived for the turnover frequency, whose validity is confirmed by extensive numerical calculations. The results are discussed in relation to IR emission from galactic nuclei.
