An analysis of high-resolution time profiles of type III bursts has been made with particular reference to polarization fine structures. All the bursts may be grouped according to some main features, such as the time delay between the onset of the two circularly polarized components or the polarization fine structures. The ratio of the energies received in the two polarization modes has also been taken into account.
