Cosmological Constant, Universe: Age, Hubble Constant, Galaxy: Formation

Scientific paper

The authors derived a relation of the averaged density of galactic halo to its forming time by spherically symmetric perturbation model, and estimated the forming time tv of our Galaxy. While the age tG of the Galaxy is represented by the age of globular clusters in it, the age of the Universe should be tG+tv. For flat universe models with Ωλ = 0, 0.7 and 0.8, the authors calculated the Hubble constant which could be sustained. They showed that if the Hubble constant is as large as about 80 km s-1Mpc-1, the puzzle of the age of the Universe might not be solved by introducing the cosmological constant.
