In the present paper, some of the classical hydrostatic computations carried out by such investigators as Bodenheimer, Hayashi, Larson, Ezer, and Cameron in the 1960s are briefly reviewed. A numerical method for calculating the evolution of protostars is proposed, in which a protostar is treated as an object that has not reached the main sequence.
