A method is proposed for investigating the ultralarge-scale solar magnetic field, which is responsible for generating the interplanetary magnetic field. Noneclipse observations of the outer (3-10 solar radii) corona in white light are analyzed, and both the sign and the inversion line of the ultralarge-scale field on the sun are determined. From these results and measurements of the magnetic flux of the sun as a star, an estimate is obtained for the strength of the ultralarge-scale field.
