Observations of neutral hydrogen emission from the galaxy IC 10 show a large outer envelope of gas more than 1 deg of arc in extent. The emission has a velocity gradient along the major axis in the opposite sense to that of the central concentration mapped by Shostak (1974). This unusual velocity reversal can be interpreted in terms of a warped gas layer in normal rotation and seen face-on.
