Woollard et al. (1969) and Woollard and Monges (1970) reported large secular variation of gravity in Mexico on the basis of data for the 1949-1967 period. However, data obtained since 1971 using LaCoste-Romberg gravimeters indicate that no significant variation is occurring between Mexico City and Acapulco or Monterrey and Mexico City at present. Local secular variation of gravity reported for Mexico City is continuing and is well correlated with the shrinking of the city due to water withdrawal.
