Supernova 1987A is reviewed with emphasis on the neutrino observations. It is shown that the results fit well with the expectations for neutrino temperatures (T approx. 4 epsilonO and 4.5 MeV) and total energy emitted (2 epsilonO and 4 times 10 to the 53rd power ergs). It is argued that the detection tends to favor collapse models that yield emission for 10 second timescales with a 1 epsilonO 2 second early accretion phase followed by Kelvin-Helmholtz cooling as opposed to prompt shocks with the immediate onset of cooling. It is also argued that the probable detection of one or more electron scattering event favors a superthermal tail at high energies. Neutrino mass limits and flavor limits are comparable to laboratory experiments. An estimate for future collapse rates in our galaxy of 1/7 year is made based on nucleosynthesis yields. The supernova also has eliminated many axion and majoron models.
