On the basis of a mathematical model, it is found that it is better to use the equal-interval azimuthal polar projection of the celestial sphere onto the auxiliary plane in the processing of a large number of overlapping plates. The coordinates of the stars on this plate are determined from the equatorial coordinates using the expressions: U = (pi/2-delta) sine alpha; V = -(pi/2-delta) cos alpha. These coordinates are related to the tangential polar coordinates U-prime, V-prime.
