A technique is presented for removing the power spectrum in flux-limited galaxy catalogs is presented and tested using Monte Carlo simulations of the IRAS survey based on N-body realizations of a standard CDM universe. The technique is applied to the 1.2 Jy IRAS catalog, comparing the resulting IRAS power spectrum with previous results in the literature. A qualitative comparison of the IRAS power spectrum with various theoretical models is shown. An extensive set of Monte Carlo experiments designed to test quantitatively the validity of standard CDM on large scales is described.
