Some consequences of the use of the mean period-color (PC) relation obtained by Dean, Warren, and Cousins (1978) for about 100 galactic Cepheids are considered. The dependence of Cepheid amplitude on star position in the instability strip is investigated, and the applicability of the cited PC relation the Cepheids in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is evaluated. It is shown that: (1) existing data confirm both the cited PC relation and a photometrically defined color-excess system; (2) light amplitudes of Cepheids with small amplitudes and almost sinusoidal light curves increase toward the red edge of the instability strip, while all other Cepheids tend to have light amplitudes that increase toward the blue edge; and (3) the PC relation fits all data on photoelectrically observed LMC Cepheids if allowance is made for nonuniform reddening and the slope of constant-period lines.
