Two spacecraft, Sakigake and Suisei, were launched in the Japanese Halley mission, the Planet-A project. Both spacecraft accomplished their task successfully. The plasma-wave probe aboard Sakigake, and the ultraviolet imager and the charged particle analyser aboard Suisei, carried out in situ measurements of the cometary environment. This article provides an overview of the project and the results obtained.
