The CTA 102 affair is reviewed. The original paper and the observations
on which it was based are discussed, and the subsequent theoretical
writings on ETI of the scientists involved are addressed. The research
that proved that the CTA 102 source is a quasar is reviewed, and present
knowledge about that quasar is summarized.
