The empirical metallicity-mass relation, Zs ∝ Ms0.4, and the chemical evolution theory relation, Zs ≈ yMs/M0, lead to the following dependence of the stellar mass of a galaxy, Ms, on the initial protogalaxy mass, M0: Ms ∝ M05/3. The latter may imply that when galaxies are formed, the ratio of the baryon mass to the mass of dark matter is lower in larger scales.
